I made the mistake, the other morning, of going out without a coat. It turned out to be ok. I didn’t freeze and I didn’t get soaked. That made me think how close we are to better days and opportunities to get out in the garden.
EQUINOX (Spring)
The arrival of Spring has seemed to have taken a long time but we have now arrived, thank goodness. Whilst the rain, rain could really do with going away, the higher temperatures are surely here to stay. Opportunity is the right word. Right now is the perfect time to start your gardening and you can choose the best options to suit you. Seeds can be grown now or plug plants potted on to get ahead. Weeds in the garden can easily be identified and removed and available spaces filled with new plants. Existing plants can be moved accordingly to better suited positions or if one particular plant proved a favourite last year, perhaps see if another of the same type could flourish nearby too. Rain washed borders can be replenished with nutrient-rich composts and damp areas bolstered with bark or stone chippings. Lawns can be re-loved with seed or fresh turf for immediate impact.
