It was the twelfth birthday of Steam Traction World, based in Daventry, recently and Nick Price Creatives have been with them since day one – so we celebrated together.

Twelve years – silk? That wasn’t really suitable for a heavy engineering company – but a famous film featuring twelve was far better.

We recreated the classic film poster from The Dirty Dozen, with reference to the twelve AND boosted by the fab-fact there are 12 employees at Steam Traction World! From which we produced a short film with the poster and fireworks. The Dirty Dozen movie tune isn’t that well known, so we used the theme from The A Team, and with our DJ’ing talent (ahem) mixed the A Team theme into Happy Birthday and back again! We posted the film on Social Media to coincide with the big day.
Here’s the copy, we wrote, to accompany:
Twelve years ago a crack steam unit
Was sent to Northamptonshire by a military court
For a time so they did commit.
These men promptly set up Steam Traction World maximum security stockade
on a Daventry Industrial Estate
Today, still wanted by steam enthusiasts,
They survive despite Covid-19.
If you want an engine,
If no one else can help
And if you can build them
Maybe you can call the S-team.
OK, we admit our films are a little mixed up. I ain’t going on no plane! But what better way to celebrate our twelfth anniversary than homage to our people?
Twelve of them for our twelfth Birthday today – I love it when a plan comes together!
Happy Birthday Steam Traction World.

Everyone Makes Mistakes – That’s Why They Put Erasers On The End of Pencils
The reaction from all but one was fantastic. To our horror we’d spelt a surname wrong – Walsh should have been Wash arrgggh! So as an apology we re-designed the film just for Mr Wash, deliberately spelling all the other names wrong! That got a great reaction too with a double social media hit in one day.

We tweaked the text to suit:

For a time so they did commit.
These men promptly set up Steam Traction World maximum security stockade
on a Daventry Industrial Estate
Today, still wanted by steam enthusiasts,
They still spell Craig’s name wrong
If you want surname,
If you think it needs an L in it
And if you can’t resist
Maybe you check with Craig first!
OK, we admit our films are a little mixed up. I ain’t going on no plane! But what better way to celebrate our twelfth anniversary than homage to our people? So this version Craig should be happy – everyone else perhaps so quite so much.
Twelve of them for our twelfth Birthday today – I love it when an autocorrect comes together!
Happy Birthday to Steam Traction World and all the staff, especially Craig Wish.

Phew glad we didn’t make the same mistake twice! I’m off to sharpen my pencil.
